Most gaming PC shutdown problems on UPS power come down to one mismatch: modern power supplies with active PFC need a clean sine-wave input, and budget square-wave UPS units do not provide it. Here is how to pair a UPS with a gaming PC correctly.
The short answer
Modern PC power supplies use active PFC (power factor correction), and active-PFC units expect a reasonably clean sine-wave input. Many budget UPS and inverter units output a square or “simulated sine” wave instead — the classic result is a PC that clicks, restarts, or shuts down the moment power switches to battery. If your gaming PC will run on backup power in Pakistan, plan for a pure (or at least well-rated) sine-wave UPS and size it with real headroom.
Why the wave shape matters
Wall power is a smooth sine wave. Cheap backup units approximate it with stepped square blocks — close enough for fans and bulbs, but an active-PFC power supply reads those steps as distorted input. Depending on the PSU, that means audible clicking, protective shutdowns, extra stress on components, or refusal to switch over at all. The PSU is not defective; the input is.
Sizing: VA is not watts
UPS units are sold in VA (volt-amperes); your PC draws watts. A UPS delivers roughly its VA rating multiplied by its power factor (often 0.6–0.8), so a “1000VA” budget unit may sustain only 600–800W. Add up your system's realistic draw under gaming load, then choose a UPS whose watt rating — not VA — covers it with at least 30% headroom. And remember what a UPS is for: riding through switchovers and shutting down safely, not marathon gaming on battery.

A quality PSU is the other half of the pairing: proper protections (over-voltage, under-voltage, short-circuit), honest wattage, and stable hold-up time make brownouts and switchovers survivable.
